Feast day: May 12
Saint Epiphanius of Salamis was a man of many and great accomplishments. He was the founder of a Christian monastery while still very young, and he served as abbot at that monastery for 30 years. He was then elected bishop in Cyprus for another 30 years or so.
However, Epiphanius had a wild streak. He was often immoderate, not tactful, not discreet, and fiery in temper. Saint Epiphanius of Salamis is a saint that many of us can relate to, because many of us can be justly accused of the same vices. (From Saints Passionate and Peculiar [Saint Mary’s Press])
