Saint John Bosco (1815–1888)

Saint John Bosco (1815–1888)

Patron saint of boys, editors, and youth

Feast day: January 31

John Bosco was an educator who started schools and eventually a religious order called the Salesians. Saint John Bosco believed in educating the whole person, not just the mind but also the body and the soul. Though he trained young people for the work world, he knew that what we do in our study, our play, and our work are all important. He said that all three of these need to be connected to our faith and to our understanding of Christ’s love for us. (From Take Ten: Daily Biblical Reflections for Teens [Saint Mary’s Press])
