Feast day: April 22
Saint Opportuna was born near Hyesmes, Normandy. Her brother, Saint Chrodegang, became the bishop of Seez. Opportuna felt God’s call to enter religious life and joined a Benedictine convent at Monteuil. Opportuna lived a life of great humility, obedience, prayer, and sacrifice. She was such a positive example to her other sisters that she was appointed abbess. In an unexpected and tragic turn of events, her brother was murdered while returning from a pilgrimage to Rome. Saint Opportuna was struck with such sadness and grief that she died a year after his death. (Image in public domain-100)
