Feast day: October 26
Saint Rusticus was born in Gaul and was the son of Bishop Bonosus. He developed the talent of preaching, and he used his gift to share the Good News in Rome before entering monastic life in France.
Rusticus was appointed bishop of Narbonne, France, during the spread of the Arian heresy in his diocese. He wanted to resign as bishop, but Pope Leo the Great persuaded him to continue. Rusticus took part in the Council of Ephesus, which denounced the heresy of Nestorianism. He also built the cathedral in Narbonne.
