Saint Theophilus of Corte (d. 1740)

Saint Theophilus was born in Corte, Italy, and was given the name Biagio Arrighi. When he felt called to enter religious life and joined the Franciscans, he took the name Theophilus. He exhibited a great passion for solitude and prayer.

After completing his studies, Theophilus was ordained. He then set out on a mission to preach the Good News in Corsica and Tuscany. Saint Theophilus of Corte also encouraged his fellow Franciscan brothers to follow the rules of their order with rigor and zeal.
