Saint Vincent of Lerins (d. 445)

Feast day: May 24

Saint Vincent of Lerins was a soldier, but he felt called to become a monk. He entered a monastery on the coast of southern France and was later ordained. His most famous written work is the Commonitorium, which determined between true and false Christian tradition. Vincent believed that the most important source of Christian truth was Holy Scripture, and the Church’s authority guaranteed the correct interpretation.
